
Terrence “Terry” McWilliams is HSG Advisors’ Chief Clinical Officer and Managing Director of the Employed Provider Network Service Line. He utilizes his extensive prior experience as a board-certified family physician and former Chief Medical Officer in his consulting work at HSG. Terry’s expertise spans organizational structure and management, infrastructure design and vision development, provider governance, physician leadership, onsite management support, and network assessment. He has advised hundreds of healthcare leaders on employed network improvement during his 10+ years at the company. Terry also holds a Master of Science in Jurisprudence (MSJ) with a focus on Hospital and Health Law, and he continues to provide guidance on the healthcare regulatory environment. With his breadth of healthcare acumen and clinical insight, he has played a key role in HSG’s growth and expansion as a leading consultancy.
Prior to HSG, Terry served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, working as a family physician and clinical administrator in a variety of practice environments, including leading multi-specialty clinical operations and physician-hospital alignment. He retired from the Navy as a decorated Captain with multiple awards and commendations. Terry also spent a decade as the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Newport Hospital, an acute care community hospital in Rhode Island. He earned his MD from the University of Pittsburgh and his MSJ from the Seton Hall University School of Law. Terry has an extensive list of author bylines and published thought leadership pieces and speaks frequently at medical conventions and conferences. He is a member of the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians (USAFP), and member of the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL), and a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Practices (AAFP).
