Neal D. Barker is a Partner at HSG Advisors who leads the company’s Compensation & Compliance practice. In his 22+ years with the company, he’s been instrumental in building the firm’s reputation as a trusted expert for provider compensation-related advisory services and Fair Market Value (FMV) and Commercial Reasonableness opinions to the healthcare industry. Neal and his team assist organizations by prioritizing physician and advanced practice provider compensation plan design (and redesign) that maintains legal compliance and supports top talent recruitment and retention while aligning with an organization’s financial, strategic, patient experience, quality, and other value-based objectives. He and his team also advise hospitals and health systems on strategic planning, physician practice mergers and consolidations, practice and network operational performance improvement, and physician-hospital alignment strategies. The Compensation & Compliance team guides clients through program development, implementation, monitoring, and adjustment to ensure ongoing success.
Neal holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration from the University of Louisville, in Louisville, KY. Neal is active in the healthcare industry as a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), a member of the American Association of Provider Compensation Professionals (AAPCP), and a candidate member of the American Society of Appraisers. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and industry events, such as MGMA and AAPCP Annual Meetings, and has been published and featured in numerous publications, including the Journal of Provider Compensation and Modern Healthcare.
